Microsoft liberó recientemente una nueva versión de la Maquina Virtual de Demos de Business Intelligence, en versión 10, con SQL 2012, SharePoint y muchos ejemplos que les serán sumamente utiles.

The Base ImageX Server is a virtual machine that allows a user to test out the latest Business Intelligence features of SQL Server 2012 – RC0; including PowerView reports and PowerPivot Excel Documents.

Son 42 Partes de 700MB así que con un poco de Paciencia pueden acceder a este excelente material.

Usability Improvements
This update features several usability improvements that we hope will make it easier to navigate and use the training kit:

• The master configuration wizard no longer auto-starts and can be launched manually from the Prerequisites page if needed. This makes it easier to use individual demos or hands-on labs without having to install the prerequisites for the entire training kit.
• Remote SQL Server instances are now supported for many demos and hands on labs. Unfortunately we were not able to add support for remote SharePoint 2010 installations. This still requires manual intervention.
• We reworked the menu structure and content pages to improve navigation and discovery of content.
• We added a desktop shortcut to the main training kit page (default.htm).

Cuadrante Mágico de Gartner para BI

Si bien esto ya tiene un tiempo (Enero de 2011) les comparto los resultados del análisis de Gartner para Herramientas de Business Intelligence, Microsoft se encuentra en una de las mejores posiciones, lo cual apuntala mucho el uso de la plataforma SharePoint, Performance Point y SQL.

Nevron Gauge for SharePoint!

Hace un tiempo les habia comentado de Nevron Charts, ahora la empresa acaba de lanzar su set de Gauges (Otro mas dentro de la coleccion de Dundas, Infragistics y otros mas que hay en el mercado), los precios se inician en 800U$S y es una buena alternativa, el impacto de estos componentes en las soluciones de BI o simples Dashboards es notable.

Free Silverlight Gauges!

Hace un tiempo les comente de este proyecto y vale la pena repetirlo puesto que ya fueron liberados en Codeplex, se trata de un set de Gauges (Meeters) desarrollados en Silverlight y que pronto van a estar para SharePoint, este es el trabajo de Gonzalo Perez, quien desinteresadamente publico este desarrollo al cual le veo muchisimo futuro en la aplicacion con SharePoint, al estilo de Visifire, se pueden publicar estos gauges llamando listas de SharePoint, imaginen el potencial para BI y Dashboards!

Dundas Dashboard!

Otro nuevo lanzamiento en estos dias, se trata de Dundas Dashboard, una excelente herramienta para construir Dashboards de BI, coincide con PowerPivot, lo que siempre me llama la atencion de los productos de Dundas es la alta calidad Grafica y proponer siempre soluciones completas, como en este caso, Dashboard maneja distintas posibilidades para desarrollo y publicacion, tambien basado en Silverlight

Graficando informacion de Listas de SharePoint

Mucho hemos hablado del tema de JQuery, en esta oportunidad, quiero dejarles otro articulo, sumamente detallado que nos explica como mediante Visifire (con Silverlight) podemos graficar la informacion de las listas y lograr construir Dashboards como el de la Imagen.
